IAVE Appoint New Director

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Hayley Henderson, Chief Editor of BMC Veterinary Research, has accepted the role as the new Director of the International Association of Veterinary Editors (IAVE). Her predecessor, Dr. Mary Christopher held the post for 15 years and has handed the reins over to Hayley who now looks forward to this exciting new challenge. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mary for her outstanding service and contribution to the IAVE.

Hayley sees her new role as an opportunity to encourage a long overdue culture change within the veterinary research community, ultimately improving how veterinary researchers plan, conduct and report their research. Editors of veterinary journals play a large part in driving this change and we look forward to collaborating with IAVE members to fulfill this objective.

VetAllTrials Initiative for Veterinary Clinical Trial Registries

VetAllTrials (http://vetalltrials.org/) is "an emerging international consortium dedicated to the development of one or more veterinary clinical trial registries." The group is aligned with the AllTrials initiative for clinical trials in human medicine and is seeking input and guidance on policies, resources, and incentives for clinical trial registration in veterinary medicine.

To learn more about and support this effort, visit the VetAllTrials website and complete the survey being conducted by the Centre for Evidence-based Veterinary Medicine at Nottingham University. Clinical trial registration has important implications for veterinary journals publishing studies of clinical trials in animals.
